CORBIN — The second night of the annual Corbin Lions Club Television/Radio Auction was in full swing Tuesday inside the Corbin High School Media Center.

President Lee Campbell showed the items to the camera, while other members were heard and seen, or worked behind the scenes. As of 7 p.m. Tuesday, the auction had raised $1,865 to provide eye exams and eyeglasses within the Corbin community.

“We’re hoping to raise $6,000, which includes money donations and Monday’s auction totals. Based on those figures, we probably won’t get that, but we should top last year’s total, which was $2,497,” said Lions Club Secretary Jim Manning. He added last year’s total compares to 2011 when they raised $6,735.

Manning noted the auction has been going on “for at least 40 years” on radio and cable TV, and used to be held at the Corbin Board of Education office before moving to the high school.

After taking a break tonight, the final night of the auction will be from 7-10 p.m. Thursday and broadcast live over Redhound Television (RBS-Channel 18) on Time Warner Cable in Corbin, and WRHR-LP (“Corbin’s Own Red 95.3” FM).
