CORBIN — While it started this past Sunday, the crowds, the rides, the food and the fun really kicked in Thursday afternoon at the 65th Annual Daniel Boone Festival. The traditional events that have stayed constant since the festival’s start in 1948 are still there today, which brings people back year after year. But then again, where else can you see a man dressed in pioneer clothing talking on his cell phone? Or, a woman in a dress like the early settlers wore, serving up a sample of bloomin’ onions? On this day, only downtown Barbourville. On the courthouse square, where the action was cookin’ on a superb and sunny October afternoon.
