Best-selling author and award-winning syndicated columnist Don McNay, of Richmond, will be at  Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Lexington at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, to kickoff the book tour for his latest bestseller, “Life Lessons from the Lottery: Protecting Your Money in a Scary World.”

“Central Kentucky is where I live, where I operate my business and where I call home,” McNay said. “And I believe one of the best ways to give back and contribute to that home is to share some of the insight I’ve gained over my many years in the financial field with our community in my newest book.”

In “Life Lessons,” his fourth book, McNay offers concrete solutions to complicated questions: Why do the majority of lottery winners, injury victims, professional athletes and people who receive an inheritance run through it all so quickly? How do you protect your retirement, injury settlement or inheritance in a way that will keep you financially secure for life?

McNay said that his book is about financial freedom.

“Real freedom means stability, security and independence,” he said. “It means never running out of money. It means never having to work at a job you hate, because you can’t afford to quit. It means never becoming a slave to your creditors. It means having control and stability in your life.”

In writing his latest book, McNay drew upon decades of experience in the financial field. An expert on lottery winners and structured settlements, McNay is chairman of the Bbard for McNay Settlement Group Inc. and Director of Kentucky Guardianship Administrators LLC. His insight has been sought by hundreds of print, television and radio programs, including “CBS Morning News,” “CBS Nightly News with Katie Couric,” Los Angeles Times and USA Today.

His syndicated column also appears regularly in the Huffington Post and numerous publications worldwide.

McNay said starting this book tour off in Lexington was the perfect choice.

“I’ve had a long and successful history with Joseph-Beth,” McNay said. “They’ve always been great supporters of my work, so kicking off the latest tour here was a no brainer.”

In addition to “Life Lessons,” McNay will also be selling his three earlier works, “Wealth Without Wall Street: A Main Street Guide to Making Money,” “Son of a Son of a Gambler: Winners, Losers and What to Do When You Win the Lottery,” and “The Unbridled World of Ernie Fletcher: Reflections on Kentucky’s Governor.”

“I love Kentucky and our community here, and I cannot wait for them to see what I’ve done with my latest work,” McNay said. “I hope my books serve to provoke thought and inspire change for years to come, and if people take the words to heart, I believe they have the power to do so.”
