Knox County Chamber recognizes Troll and Toad.Com, Corbin, KY

CORBIN — Special to the Times-Tribune

This month’s Chamber Spotlight is on TrollAndToad.Com. Chamber leaders recognized TrollAndToad.Com as an important member of the local community, and decided to seek out more information about the company. The Knox County Chamber wanted information about this quickly growing company directly form the source, Jon Huston, owner of, local entrepreneur and Internet retailer.

Huston’s story is something that all Southeastern Kentuckians can take pride in. From his humble beginnings as a computer programmer, to the creation of one of the fastest growing Internet retail companies to date, Huston has consistently maintained an objective to give back to the community. After being located in Barbourville for a few years and outgrowing the facility, in 2011 purchased the American Greetings warehouse in Corbin, a one million square foot facility. Staying true to his objective, TrollAndToad.Com provides employment to 205 people, primarily recruited from surrounding counties, including nearly 35-40 percent from Knox County and nearly 55 percent from Laurel County.

Huston acquired his passion for hobby gaming as a child of missionary parents in Africa. He would save his money to buy two games per year. In a 2010 magazine article, Huston stated that the excitement of receiving these games was one of the most pleasurable experiences of his life. This is one of the reasons Huston decided it is time to provide a top of the line hobby gaming retail store to the London area. The goal is to captivate the public with an alternative local resource for fun and gaming.

On Feb. 15, TrollAndToad.Com was set to unveil a 5,000 square foot flagship retail store in London called Games and Comics. This facility, located beside Tractor Supply in the London Shopping Center, will be the first of its kind in this area. TrollAndToad Games and Comics will provide the community with a variety of events and products which cater to all genres of gamers.

Huston wants to convey an atmosphere such that if you are a console gamer, this store is designed for you, meanwhile giving the impression to collectible card came enthusiasts that the professional tournament center was built just for them.

Games and Comics plans to open its doors to the public with an inventory selection sure to please all ages of gamers. Whether you’re the hardcore comic subscriber or the casual board game player looking for the perfect family fun night — they will have a game for you.

The Knox County Chamber is proud to have Huston and TrollAndToad.Com as a member of the Chamber that provides local quality employment and actively participates in supporting the growth of this community.
