BPD honored with Patriot Award

CORBIN — The Barbourville Police Department, was recently honored with a Patriot Award. The award recognizes employers for employment policies and practices that are supportive of employee participation in the National Guard and Reserve.

The police department was nominated for this award by E4 Andrew Sowders of Corbin. A member of the ARNG, 149th IN.

Accepting the award for the department was Police Chief Mike Broughton. The other officers present for the ceremony were Bill Swafford, James Gray and Robert Brown.

Ralph Brown, area chairman for Congressional District 5, an agency of the Department of Defense, presented the award.
