Work continues to renovate bank branch slated for consolidation

CORBIN — By Sharae Myers / Staff Writer

An interior design change has delayed the completion of renovations to the Cumberland Valley National Bank branch on Falls Road and the closure of the bank’s downtown Corbin branch.

In August, bank officials announced plans to renovate the Falls Road branch to accommodate the relocation and consolidation of its Main Street branch.

Whitley County Bank CEO Jennie Hensley said the Main Street location will remain open until late January when the renovation is expected to be completed.

When bank officials made the consolidation announcement, it was expected work would be completed by the end of the year.

“The construction delay is do to an interior design change,” Hensley said.

Hensley said the drive-through ATM downtown on Depot Street, located behind the Main Street location, is already permanently closed to customers. Hensley added that Falls Road ATM is open for business while construction is underway as well as the Master Street branch.

Future plans for the soon-to-close Main Street building are still undetermined at this time, Hensley said.

“I am sure nothing will be done until the transition is complete,” Hensley said.

Hensley said once a date is set to close the doors at the Main Street location it will be announced to give customers ample notice. The bank is planning a grand opening celebration as soon as the transition is complete.

Hensley said no jobs were lost as a result of the consolidation.
