TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) held its first ever Experience the Bloom Awards May 24, at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset.
Bloom stands for Business, Leadership, Opportunities, Organization and Motivation.
These awards were created to honor those who have gone above and beyond to make the visitors experience outstanding. Nominations were made by tourism professionals across TOUR SEKY’s 47-county region. During the ceremony, TOUR presented awards in 12 categories.
In addition to the awards presentation, TOUR SEKY announced the top three winners of its 2011 Redbud Trails Photography Contest. The contest was held in April to help promote Redbud Month.
The photos were judged April 29, during the Redbud Garden Party in Middlesboro. Dianna Mills, of Cannon, took home the second place prize of $50. Mills’ photo will be featured in the 2012 Redbud Calendar along with the other top 11 photos. All contest entries will be used in regional marketing materials.
More than 150 guests were on hand for the inaugural event. Successful “Let’s Paint the Town” projects were also announced. Communities throughout TOUR’s 47-county service area were eligible to submit project ideas.
