Conner’s Quick Stop re-opening

Special to The Times-Tribune

Owners Julie and David Conner anticipate re-opening the Conner’s Quick Stop in mid- to late August after the store suffered from a major fire Aug. 5, 2007. The store is located at 1414 American Greeting Card Road.

A very personable and local-flavor atmosphere is what Julie and David created prior to the fire and will continue to foster. CQS will continue to offer an affordable restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in addition to their convenience store merchandise.

The exterior is a combination of flagstone and stucco. In addition to a spacious inside, there is an abundance of outside deck seating. The couple hopes to have entertainment during some early evenings as a great after-work destination.

They both grew up in Corbin; however, without knowing one another as David attended Laurel County High School and Julie attended Whitley County High School. Julie Napier and David Conner separately ended up in Atlanta pursuing various schooling and their respective careers.

Julie worked her way up to becoming the general manager of the Granada Suites Hotel, and David assembled a broad background including sheet metal and sign fabrication.

While visiting Corbin in February 2004, they met through a common friend and immediately fell for eachother. The wedding bells rang shortly thereafter in October 2004. In November 2006 they moved back to Corbin to acquire and operate a convenience/restaurant location along with raising a family “back home.”

Julie and David are blessed with two adorable children Aidan and Keira Ann.

Community support to rebuild the store has been tremendous. Julie and David want to extend a special thanks to Tom Blair with State Farm Insurance, and their local general contractor, Terry Smith.
