The Tri-State Institute of Hair Design first opened its doors in January 2007. The school held its ribbon cutting ceremony April 11 at its new 9,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility. The Tri-State Institute of Hair Design is owned by J.B. and Debbie Brown.
“Our mission here is dedicated to a training program of outstanding quality for all men and women who desire the ability to benefit from a career in master barbering,” said J. B. Brown.
The Tri-State Institute of Hair Design offers programs for both full- and part-time students. A student enrolled full-time can complete the state requirements of 1,500 hours in approximately nine and a half months, while a part-time student will take about 18 months.
The manager of Tri-State Institute is Diane Wagers, a graduate of St. Camillus Academy and alumnus of University of the Cumberlands and Eastern Kentucky University. She has 14 years experience, including nine years as a manager of a small business and four years experience in the educational field.
Married to Gary R. Wager, she is the mother of Savannah, age 9, and Ethan, age 5.
J.B. Brown, who has been very successful in businesses in Barbourville, Corbin and London, said, “This institution is attuned to the changing needs in the field and is continuously striving to provide the students with the skills applicable to today and in the future.”
The school will accommodate up to 40 students.
Tri-State Institute of Hair Design is located on Commercial Drive in London, just off Kentucky 25 across from Kain Ford. Enrollment information is available Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling 864-4247. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
The new facility is also open to the public for a multitude of hair care services and products.
