CORBIN — By Jeff Noble / Staff writer

Former 82nd District State Representative Dewayne Bunch has died today, according to a family spokesperson at his home in Williamsburg.

Bunch was also a math teacher in the Whitley County School system for 17 years.

Bunch was injured while attempting to break up a fight at Whitley County High School between two students. During the incident, he was hit by one of the students and fell to the floor, hitting his head on the floor of the school cafeteria.

As a result of the injury, he was in rehabilitation at centers in Atlanta, Georgia and in Kentucky.

Because of his injury, his wife Regina replaced him in his house seat, which is composed of all of Whitley County and the southern part of Laurel County.
