CORBIN — By Jeff Noble

Staff writer

The Family Dollar store in the Corbin Station shopping center off the Cumberland Gap Parkway was robbed about 3:30 p.m. today (Thursday) by a lone gunman.

Major Rob Jones, who's the Public Affairs Officer for the Corbin Police Department, said witnesses told police a white man, 6 feet tall and just under 200 pounds, entered the store carrying a 9 mm handgun.

Jones told the Times-Tribune the robber reportedly wore a brown jacket and a black-and-yellow mask.

No one was hurt during the robbery.

Jones said witnesses told police they could see under the robber's mask and that he had brown hair and a brown mustache.

The mask was found later at the Whitaker Bank branch office at 1400 Master Street in Corbin.

Corbin Police detectives are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Corbin Dispatch at 606-528-1122
