CORBIN — Times-Tribune Staff Report

Man arrested for assault of his daughter

A London man was arrested Sunday for assaulting and possibly injuring his 16-year-old daughter, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Ronnie D. Ratliff, 40, may have injured his daughter’s chest, Root said.

Ratliff’s arrest came after Deputy Josh Scott responded about 2:30 p.m. to a domestic violence complaint at a home located three miles north of London.

Ratliff was charged with fourth-degree assault. He was jailed in the Laurel County Corrections Center.

Deputy Steve Hoskins assisted.

Nine arrested for not paying child support

Nine people were arrested during a roundup of people who failed to pay child support, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root and Laurel County Attorney J. L. Albright.

The arrests came during the two offices’ third roundup early Wednesday morning.

The suspects, both men and women, were wanted on bench warrants charging them with non-payment of child support.

Operation Child Care III is a continuing effort by Root and Albright to make a concentrated effort to arrest suspects for child support violations. According to Albright, the task force is looking for 57 individuals who owe more than $642,072.91 in child support payments collectively.

Since taking office, Albright reports that his office has seen its statewide ranking in child support continue to rise. Laurel County ranked 100 in January 2010. As of the end of August, Laurel County had climbed in the state wide rankings to 82. In 2011 collections increased by more than five percent and Albright said he hopes to see a similar increase in 2012, which would put his office on track to collect more than $6 million in child support for this year.

Wednesday’s roundup resulted in a total of nine arrests.
