Five Tri-Countians sentenced in U.S. Federal Court

Four from Laurel and one from Whitley County were sentenced in U.S. Federal Court in London this week.

The four from Laurel County were Wendell R. Patrick, Joey Henson, Steven J. Lay and Randy Travis Cunnagin. From Whitley County was Jimmy Frank Goley.

The sentences were imposed by District Judge Amul R. Thapa.

Patrick was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and five years of supervised release.

He was charged in a June 2011 indictment with on or about May 5, 2011, conspiring to intentionally distribute about 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine.

Henson was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and five years of supervised release.

He had pleaded guilty to two counts in the indictment. In count one he was charged with conspiring to distribute meth about Aug. 30, 2011.

Count six charged him with possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.

Each count was sentenced to five years and will be consecutive.

Lay was sentenced to three years and five months on the first count of a seven count indictment filed March 24, 2011. The other counts were dismissed.

He was charged with between Jan. 1 and Jan. 27, 2011, with making meth while conspiring with others.

Cunnagin was sentenced to two years after pleading guilty to one count charging him with being an unlawful user of a firearm between Dec. 29, 2010, and Feb. 19, 2011.

Whitley County’s Jimmie Frank Goley was sentenced to four years imprisonment after being charged on one count charging him with conspiring to distribute oxycodone.
