Five arrested in Pearl Street drug bust

By Carl Keith Greene / Staff Writer

Five men were arrested Tuesday on drug charges after complaints of the activity on London’s Pearl Street were made to the London Police Department.

Police Lt. Stewart Walker said Thursday the department had gotten several complaints about drug activity at the site over a few days before the arrests, and police had been watching the site for activity.

He said another call came in about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and officers decided to make a thorough investigation.

Those officers included Walker, Lt. Derek House, Detective Sgt. Blaine Inman, Sgt. Mathew Moore and officers Bryon Lawson, Jeremy Shell, Eric Wilkerson and John Whitehead, who continues the investigation.

When the officers arrived at the home, they found a place behind the house that appeared to be a meth lab.

At a site where a fire had obviously burned, they found empty solvent cans, batteries and blister packs, all material that could be used in the process of making methamphetamine, Walker said.

He said when they arrived at the home, Jeremy Boggs, who lives there, told them at the door that no one else was in the house.

Police got a search warrant before entering the house

In the search of the building, Walker said, two more men were found — Danny D. Brummett, of New Salem Road, and Jonathan McGraw, of Hurley Lane.

As the search continued, Walker said officers found an assortment of prescription drugs as well as methamphetamine.

During the search a fourth man appeared at the door, having arrived in a car. Michael W. Evans, of Mill Street, was charged with driving under the influence and possessing methamphetamine.

Boggs and Brummett were charged with making and trafficking in methamphetamine and McGraw was charged with making and trafficking in methamphetamine as well as being served with warrants charging him with the earlier offenses of driving on a suspended license, making methamphetamine and bail jumping.

Following the search and after the suspects were hauled off, a call came to the police department reporting a man who drove up to and entered the house.

The police returned and found Russell B. Gregory of Hogskin Road in Manchester.

He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence on a suspended license and possessing methamphetamine.

All in all the officers found at the scene nine grams of methamphetamine, lorazepam, oxycodone, Lorcet, a 12-guage shotgun, a handgun, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Additional charges are pending.
